Street Children Turn Umbrellas into Art in Heartwarming Initiative

Image In a heartening display of creativity and community support, 42 children from School on Wheels — an educational project for street children — transformed plain white umbrellas into vibrant works of art in a special event organized by artist Babita Das.

The initiative, held amidst the natural beauty of an open-air venue, gave the young participants a chance to express their imagination and emotions through painting. Supported by the Inner Wheel Club of Central Calcutta, Garden Cafe, and the Alka Jalan Foundation, the event turned simple umbrellas into colorful canvases filled with unique and lively designs.

The joy was palpable as the children proudly took home their friends' painted umbrellas along with goody bags, their faces lit up with smiles and excitement. The event not only celebrated art but also highlighted the power of creativity in empowering underprivileged children.
